Read our latest post below about the 6 Tips To Help You Stay Calm Amidst Chaos…
As you may already have noticed life is not always easy – in fact, it can sometimes be downright chaotic. When life is feeling excessively wild and unpredictable, consider the following tips to help keep yourself calm, even when your life is anything but.
1: Have A Good Support System Of People You Trust
A strong support system full of people you know, love, and trust is a vital asset to have when you need some calmness in the chaos. Always have a plan to get in touch with people in your support system in case of chaotic times.
Being able to connect quickly with someone who can help and support you is a key way to ensure you have a method of calming yourself when you need it most.
That support system can make a big difference to the eventual outcome of a situation you may find yourself dealing with in life.
2: Be Able To Take A Break From A Chaotic Situation
When something chaotic is happening, you may be fooled into thinking that you must solve the problem as quickly as possible. However, a quick solution is not always the best solution.
While a chaotic situation may not always resolve itself quickly, remember to give yourself some breaks. You can step away from the chaos physically and mentally. Allow yourself some distance from the chaos whenever possible – this will ensure you have energy to tackle it again eventually.
3: Delay Your Decision Making If Possible
Chaotic situations often demand immediate solutions. However, it is not always possible to devise a good decision during chaos. In fact, you may find yourself making very poor decisions amid chaos if you are not being careful.
If possible, give yourself time to really think about your choices so you can make a smart and sound decision. Do not let chaos trick you into thinking you must have an immediate solution as soon as possible.
4: Squeeze In Some Physical Movement
Moving is a good way to calm yourself when life gets that little bit chaotic. If you begin to feel panic or anxiety affecting you, stop what you are doing and find a way to get a little exercise, even if it is only for a few minutes.
You can perform some light yoga poses or stretches, take a quick walk around the building, or even squeeze in a gym session, depending on how much time you have. Regardless of how or when you choose to move, doing so will help distract your mind from whatever chaos is happening and calm you down again.
5: Focus On What You Can Control Or Change In A Situation
It is a fact of life: You cannot always control everything happening to you. However, you can likely find some aspects of a situation you can control or change. In times of chaos, focus on what you can control and work hard to improve those aspects.
6: Gain Control By Practicing Some Deep Breathing Exercises
When life gets chaotic, it is easy to slip into a deluge of panic. Even if you realize your panicking is exaggerated, when you are experiencing chaos in life, it is very easy to feel overwhelmed quickly.
When these types of overwhelming moments happen, practice regaining control by completing some deep breathing exercises. These are simple and require no special supplies to complete – you can use this technique anywhere, from your office to your car and beyond, when you need to recenter yourself and calm down during a chaotic situation.
To perform a deep breathing exercise, practice breathing in through your nose to the count of four. Then you can release your breath slowly to another count of four. Repeat this process as much as needed to calm down.
