Welcome to our new post about How To Be More Productive Without Losing Your Mind…
Do you wish you could be more productive in your life? I personally think there are many people who do want that.
But how do you become a more productive person without giving yourself too much to do, and losing your mind?
The key to being more productive without burning yourself out is to create a schedule, eliminate distractions, and gamify the situation.
The very first step is to find out why you tend to procrastinate?
Everyone is prone to procrastination on some level.
But it could be a lack of interest in the job, a lack of motivation, a fear of failure, or distractions. So, find out what causes you the most problems so you can address them head-on.
Create A Schedule
The next step is to create a detailed schedule. As tempting as it is to plan an entire week or even a month at a time, it’s wise to start with a day. You can create your schedule the night before. Prioritize things so you do them in order of importance.
Or you can schedule the more difficult tasks for your highest energy or most productive hours. If you know you have an afternoon slump, give yourself an easy workload for that period. If you do your best work before lunch, make that the time to do your biggest chunk of work.
Write absolutely everything down so you can tick things off as you go and give yourself a motivational boost with every tick. Just be sure you don’t overdo it.
If you give yourself too much to do, you will never accomplish it and that will only derail your productivity more. When creating your schedule, be sure to give yourself regular breaks.
How To Be More Productive Without Losing Your Mind
Productivity At Work
If you’re an office worker or you work from home, then you can be more productive at work by single-tasking. That’s right, give up on multi-tasking because it’s slowing you down! Do one thing at a time and give it your total focus.
Take a break between tasks. Turn your gadgets off, put them on airplane mode, or use an app blocker to keep yourself from being distracted.
Being distracted can cost you a lot of wasted time. Time you won’t get back so keep distractions to a minimum.
Leverage Your Habits
Start improving your habits to build up your productivity. Set a meal schedule and stick to it, be sure to enjoy a healthy balanced diet to feed your brain and fuel your body. Create a morning routine that sets you up for success, and an evening routine that prepares you for rest.
This isn’t a weekday routine, it’s a routine for every day, and the more consistent you are, the easier it will be to instill these new habits.
Manage Your Workload
If you have a long list of projects or assignments and it’s stressing you out, you need to manage your workload effectively. So, don’t overload yourself. It’s important to know your limits and you need to be prepared to admit when you’ve reached yours.
Whether you speak to your boss about delegating some of it to others or it’s a home issue and your partner can help ease your burden. Keeping quiet isn’t going to help you improve your productivity.
Use An App
Do not underestimate the power of apps. In addition to apps that can track your distractions and block them, there are organization apps that can help you keep track of projects and tasks on your schedule. It’s much easier to be productive when you’re organized.
Purge Distractions
It might not be the biggest one, but it is incredibly important, and it ties into what we touched on above. Distractions are productivity’s greatest enemy.
You can put a time limit on your apps, block certain apps for specific hours, and remove social media apps from your phone. Whatever it takes to avoid the distractions you know always get you.
So, if you love interrupting your day job to scroll Twitter, remove it from your phone, block its use during working hours, or set a limit on how much time you’re allowed to spend on it. Consider applying this to your evening routine.
For example, allow your phone to lock certain apps at a certain time, giving yourself at least an hour before bed of no screen time.
